Today in Sacramento: Attorney General Becerra & Assembly Speaker Rendon join legislators & nonprofit honorees for California Nonprofits Day!
Dear Kurt Schake,
As designated by the passage of Assembly Concurrent Resolution 54 by Assemblymember Monique Limón, June 28, 2017 is the second annual California Nonprofits Day Nearly 100 California nonprofit organizations from around the state have been selected by legislators as their Nonprofits of the Year and will be honored at a luncheon event at the State Capitol.
The participation of Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon in today’s event is a powerful indication of the importance of the nonprofit sector in California.
We are also excited that many of the ninety-six state legislators who have chosen nonprofits of the year from their districts will be present at the luncheon accompanied by their honorees — another great sign that our state policymakers recognize and appreciate the vital role of the nonprofit community in California.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the second annual California Nonprofits Day,” says our CEO Jan Masaoka. “CalNonprofits initiated California Nonprofits Day as a way not only to honor and spotlight the excellence of individual nonprofits, but to raise the profile of the entire nonprofit community to legislators.”
Coming on the heels of the first hearing of the historic new Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector chaired by Assemblymember Limón, this is another positive example of government and nonprofits working together to identify and advance partnerships and solutions that will benefit all Californians.
